The Allman Brothers Band records At Filmore East on March 13, 1971

36 years ago today, March 13th, The Allman Brothers Band finished recording the live album At Filmore East. The recording for the album was actually spread over two days: March 12th & March 13th, 1971.

In 2003 At Filmore East was ranked as the 49th greatest album of all time by Rolling Stone Magazine and it is generally regarded as one of the greatest live albums in the history of rock music.

Famed producer Tom Dowd produced the album and he condensed the running time of some songs and sometimes even merged multiple performances onto one track.
