People who take this game show seriously (which unfortunately is way too many people) became upset that someone of his singing ability (or lack of singing ability) had made it so far in the show. Others rooted him on and voted for him as a way of "destroying American Idol" including Howard Stern and the website VoteForTheWorst.com
