The Tears for Fears single "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" hit #1 on the US singles chart on June 8th of 1985. The song was taken from their second album Songs from the Big Chair.

"Shout," also from Songs from the Big Chair, would become the bands second (and last) #1 US single on August 3, 1985.

"Everybody Wants to Rule the World" was #1 for 2 weeks while "Shout" lasted 3 weeks.
