Hank Williams debuts at the Grand Ole Opry on June 11, 1949

Hank Williams made his debut at the Grand Ole Opry on June 11th of 1949 and performed an unprecedented 6 encores.

Hank Williams died less than 4 years later at the age of 29 in a car accident on January 1, 1953. He left behind a son named Hank Williams Jr. who would go on to be a country music star himself. His grandson Hank Williams III is also a musician.

Hank Williams wrote many classic songs including "Move It On Over" and "Hey Good Lookin'"
