The video for Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" turns 16 years old today as it was shot on August 17th of 1991.
The video, like the song itself, was extremely popular and critically acclaimed. In 2001 it ranked #4 on VH1's list of 100 greatest videos.
The video was directed by Samuel Bayer. It Bayer's first video. He would later go on to direct videos for Green Day, Metallica, and the Smashing Pumpkins.
