Amazon.com Musical Instruments Shopping Review

DigiTech RP200

This is actually quite a flexible multi fx guitar pedal. Sure it can sound quite cheesy if you stick with all of the presets but if you mess around with it a bit you can come up with some pretty wild sounds. If your goal is "authenticity" (whatever that means) then this is probably not the pedal for you. If you just want to mess around or would like to experiment with an easy to use cheap guitar pedal then this may work for you.

Most of the preset sounds are totally awful though, I must say. According to the blurb on the site one of them is actually based on the guitarist from Nickelback. Are you telling me someone actually wants to sound like Nickelback? That's disturbing in many ways.

M-Audio Firewire 410

The M-Audio Firewire 410 is a great solution if you are using Windows XP and you only need 2 inputs. It's only $299. For $299 you can get professional quality recording results! Unfortunately as of today M-Audio is not providing Windows Vista drivers so only buy this if you are currently using XP. Surely eventually M-Audio will start supplying Vista drivers.

I haven't tried it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it does work well with Windows 7 (because everything seems to work well with Windows 7, I love it and recommend upgrading to it ASAP.)
