2010 Album Releases I’m Looking Forward To

Instead of looking back at 2009 on New Years Eve, I’m going to look forward to 2010. These are the album releases (whether the release date is set in stone or only rumored) that I’m looking forward to.

Radiohead

No album name or release date as of yet but it does seem likely that a new Radiohead album will be released in 2010 as there have been blog posts on Radiohead’s official site from the members of the band that they are working on songs for a new album. After having the “album of the decade” for the past two decades (OK Computer in the ’90s and Kid A in the ’00s) is there a chance that they could do it again in the ’10s?

Arcade Fire

This is a lie, I’m not looking forward to the rumored 2010 Arcade Fire album release (no title or release date is set yet) because I find their first two albums to be extremely boring. But I know a lot of people like them, so I’m including them anyway.

Beastie Boys

Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1 was originally set to be released on September 15, 2009 but has been delayed and should be coming out in 2010. In July of 2009 Adam Yauch made public that he had cancer and his recovery from surgery was the cause for the delay of the album’s release.

Noel Gallagher

Noel quit Oasis in August and is apparently working on a debut solo album which could come out in 2010.

The rest of the band is continuing on without him, although it’s not clear whether they will continue to use the Oasis name or come up with a new name. Liam Gallagher has said that the band, regardless of their name, will not play any songs that Noel wrote (most of the songs that people associate with Oasis.)

Gorillaz

The title is set to be Plastic Beach but there’s no release date set as of yet. The album will feature Mos Def.

Kraftwerk

No title or date has been set and this very well may not happen but if it does it would be the group’s first proper new studio release since 1986. In the mean time check out this really sweet Kraftwerk Box Set: The Catalogue.

The Beatles

There’s no guarantee of this happening either, but there is reason to believe that The Beatles 2009 remasters will be making their way to vinyl in 2010.

Strange?

It’s a bit strange that most of the releases I’m looking forward to are just rumors, isn’t it? I couldn’t find much in the way of solid releases that I have much interest in.
