6th Week At #1 On The US Album Charts For MJ
By Marvin Marks on Aug 12, 2009 in Music Trivia
Michael Jackson has been at #1 on the UK album charts for all seven weeks since his death on June 25th and with the new Billboard numbers out today he’s made it 6 out of 7 weeks in the US (there was one week where he was at #2 behind Daughtry’s 2nd album.)
Number Ones sold 90,000 copies in the US for the week topping a new album by Sugarland titled Live on the Inside which sold 76,000 copies.
With this being the 6th week at #1 for Number Ones this year, it matches the chart topping performance of Bad in 1987 which was also at #1 for six weeks. In 1991 Dangerous was at #1 for four weeks, in 1995 HIStory was at #1 for two weeks, and in 2001 Invincible was at #1 for one week.

BTW, Daughtry’s album only sold 44K this week… so while he did beat Jackson for one week (in a debut week) he’s now far behind him.

Sad to see that it took him dying to get things back in a positive spin.
Just watched This is it … looks like the O2 arena shows would have been fantastic.
