Billy Thorpe was born March 29th of 1946 in Manchester, England. His family moved to Australia when Thorpe was 9 years old.

As the lead singer of Billy Thorpe & the Aztecs he had a lot of success in Australia during the 1960s and 1970s. They did not have success in the US. He is most well known in the US for “Children of the Sun” from 1979.

Thorpe died of a heart attack on February 28, 2007.
