The latest Britney Spears single “3″ (which is the only new track on her greatest hits compilation due out on November 24th) has debuted at #1 on the US singles chart.

It’s the first non American Idol song to debut at #1 Lauren Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” accomplished the feat in 1998.

“3″ is the 3rd song by Spears to reach #1 (the first two were “Baby One More Time” & “Womanizer.”)

The song is probably the most “racy” song she has released to date (as it’s directly about having sex, and in specific having a threesome) and it also seems like one of her most “dance floor ready” songs ever. I think the song is also notable for it’s extreme use of auto-tune. Although I guess these days that’s not actually that notable at all.

I really must admit that I find this song a bit of a hoot. It’s definitely catchy and the music is a good time.
