Elvis Costello Was Born On August 25, 1954

Elvis Costello was born as Declan Patrick MacManus on August 25, 1954 in London, England.

His biggest selling album in the US to date is his 1977 debut My Aim Is True which is Costello’s only studio album certified platinum (one million units sold in the US.) The compilation “greatest hits” album The Best of Elvis Costello & The Attractions (released in 1985) is also certified platinum by the RIAA.

“Oliver’s Army” (#2 in the UK) from 1979’s Armed Forces

“I Can’t Stand Up For Falling Down” (#4 in the UK) from 1980’s Get Happy!!

“Veronica” (#1 on US modern rock charts) from 1989’s Spike.

“Veronica” was co-written by Paul McCartney (McCartney also plays bass on the track.)

“The Other Side of Summer” (#1 on US modern rock charts) from 1991’s Mighty Like A Rose.
