Hear Clips Of The Beatles Remastered

If you go to the Beatles Store on Amazon you will be able to play short clips (30 seconds) of some (32 as of right now) of the newly remastered Beatles songs (stereo mixes.)

When listening to these clips be sure that you consider this is streaming audio on the internet so it’s not going to be as high quality as the actual CD. But still this should give you some idea of the differences in the new remastered versions.

There seems to be more detail in these remastered versions. My hope is that this detail isn’t gained at the expense of too much of the “warmth” of the original recordings. I’m also somewhat concerned about the possibility of over compression (ie: “The Loudness War”) but those involved with the project have said they were careful not to over do it. I guess we’ll all know on 9/9/9 when we can get our ears on these remastered CDs.

The player (where you can hear these clips) is in the top right (below The Beatles banner) - CLICK HERE to go there now.

For those of you interested in clips of the mono mixes, I don’t think there’s any up. The mono mixes will not be available for individual purchase (the remastered stereo albums are available individually as well as part of the stereo box set) but only as a part of the mono box set: Order The Beatles Mono Box Set Online.

  1. I am disappointed since the previews simply sound louder but nothing else sounds spectacularly different. I was hoping to hear more sounds never heard before. The best sounding ones are the Love album where the songs were remixed and the Yellow Submarine Soundtrack album which was released in 5.1 and you could really hear things never heard in the last 40 years. But if this is just a remastering (ie louder) then I think I’m in for a huge disappointment. I think Apple goofed.

  2. James, to be fair - these are just streaming versions of these songs - the sound quality isn’t going to be nearly as good as it is on the CD… I think we should wait to hear the CDs before making a judgment.

  3. Anyone with a decent sound system + EQ can make these “originals” sound great. This is a bit of a sham and only follows the wanderlust that was “Across the Universe” which fattened some wallets and made a few new fans. Who needs the cash more: Paul, Ringo or the respective estates of anyone else, including Michael Jackson??

  4. DW, you don’t any idea of what you’re talking about. There’s a HUGE difference between a consumer making EQ adjustments and more of the original sound from the master tapes being captured due to superior analog to digital mastering (24 bit vs 16 bit for the most obvious difference between these and the 1987 CDs.) The fact that you make that comparison shows that you are out of your element.
