Hollywood Undead - The Worst Music Ever?

Is Hollywood Undead the worst music ever? After listening to the songs on their MySpace page this seems like a completely reasonable question. Their sound is like all the worst aspects of every awful music trend from the last 20 years.
It’s like Limp Bizkit mixed with Eminem and the Backstreet Boys. It’s hard to imagine that this music isn’t some sort of elaborate joke. If it is, then I guess they got me. The sad thing is they also got thousands of other people who apparently actually think this is good music. Sure most of them are about 14 years old but it’s still sad that this crap is getting many thousands of plays every day on MySpace while many much more deserving artists are largely ignored.
I haven’t even mentioned the pictures yet. The whole mask thing makes me think it’s all a joke. They don’t want people to know who they really are. Right? Plus it’s another crap music allusion to add to the list (Slipknot.)
I will give Hollywood Undead this much. They are more interesting than most MySpace artists. They are so incredibly bad yet appeal to so many. It’s interesting to think about for me. Are kids just this clueless when it comes to music these days that this garbage passes for not only decent but great?
They are currently the second most popular unsigned artist on MySpace. I suppose it’s not surprising that they are surrounded by two “artists” almost as crap as they are: Tila Tequila and Five Times August. I’ll have to get to them next time.
So which Hollywood Undead song is worst? I can’t say I listened to all of them. The joke does start to wear thin after awhile. But I must say that “Circles” is particularly amusing. This is the Hollywood Undead ballad. It’s just as tasteless and stupid as the rest of their music but with the added bonus of a staggering amount of cheese.

I usually try my hardest not to knock bands, no matter how bad they are, because being in a band is a hard, heartbreaking, frustrating road to travel down. Putting your heart and soul into something so fully is opening yourself up in a very vulnerable way that many people would never do.
That being said, there seems to be neither heart nor soul in the music here, but maybe some hidden brains. They seem to be brilliantly exploiting the economics of pop music; teenagers contribute the most money to the pop music market so give them what they want. And apparently what they want is Insane Clown Posse (who have an endless amount of imitators) mixed with emo (who’s bands have become completely interchangeable) and Eminem (from whom they have no problem lifting from directly). But these guys don’t even have the ability to meld these sounds into one amalgamation. If they did they would probably sound more like Linkin Park. Instead you get one song that sounds like ICP, one that sounds like emo, one that sounds like Eminem, and then one that sounds like Linkin Park (okay, they all start to sound like Linkin Park in the end).
But teenagers are notorious for having bad taste. And teenage boys are notorious for liking music that is violent, misogynistic and homophobic. But what’s disturbing is the sheer number of girls that are buying into this. And posting comments about how hot these guys are. They’re wearing masks! Good looking dudes don’t wear masks or full face makeup (with the possible exception of Paul Stanley). And hey, little girl, that song you like so much. It’s about date raping you! Here, take this L7 record. They’re better and funnier than this band and could easily kick the crap out of them.

The fact that you say that they “imitate” so many othe bands shows there versatility. You don’t like there music because you don’t understand it because your old and don’t know how laugh or whatever other reason, go listen to the beattles and shut the hell up. Circles is a good song that actually mean somthing to people who know jack about music and people who have felt that way, same with a knife called lust, my black dahlia and so on and so on. I will give you this if you cant take there other songs such as christmas time in hollywood and laugh then you wont like them because that humor is to mature in nature for you. I am a college student with an A average and i consider myself neither idiotic, nor ignorant, nor one who lacks taste, but one thing i know is that i love Hollywood Undead. It is a relief to hear a band that explores so many facets of music. I am tired of stereotypical bands that are afraid to experiment and step outside of the box. These songs reflect life, no matter how different it is from yours. Check out the bands history, then see if you have something to say. And besides how many of those who are so quick to judge have exploded onto the scene?

If you don’t like them then don’t talk crap, just don’t play tir music. I personally like their music becasue of the variety of genres they provide. I don’t like very much rap. What to say…
To state that HollywoodUndead is musical genius would be far too ignorant for me to ever mutter, however, I can state that their music is new and in my opinion, sarcastically refreshing. Yes their sound is a mix of genres, and in many cases they come off like they had a recent bout of MPD but anybody who thinks HollywoodUndead aims to be taken as anything BUT funny is delusional. In a world where majority of the top songs are about sex, depression, or a mixture of the two, I for one am glad to see somebody take a different approach, i.e. the funny one. No they are not Simon & Garfunkel, CCR would not be proud, and hell even Eminem would probably want to strangle them (though… not that that’d be different from his normal routine) but in the end I think they aim to take Comedy + Music and, in my opinion, they do it well. I think what people fail to realize is that HollywoodUndead is here for fun, to take the Punk Ska Hardcore fan base, and to infuse their own Weird Al style. Perhaps it isn’t musical art but if anything it is creative, and for that alone nobody really has the right to make any statement about them beyond, “Not my style”. Call it music, call it comedy, I call it both, but I call it both as a fan of HollywoodUndead. Nobody will ever agree where music or comedy is concerned, all that really ever matters is whether there is a group of people who enjoy it, and the number show that Hollywood Undead has those numbers.
And well call me a bad fan for thinking My Black Dahlia is humorous, but I do think I will somehow move on. Just think about it.

Well, yes, I do like Hollywood Undead alot. But I am not here to defend them, per say, but pose an honest and simple question. Before I get to it, let me sate a few things that came to mind while I read your review and your arguments to the…fans.
There are thousands upon thousands of other bands, hundreds of different styles, hundreds of different messages, and many different moods - all for millions, MILLIONS, of different people.
Is one band really than another? Who decides? Popular consensus? My word to yours? Record sales? On paper, sure the record sales prove something, along with popular vote. But popular vote only matters to those who voted for…what comes of the opposition?
The question I wanted to ask was “what gives you the right to bash my music?”
I will say, I appreciate you taking the time to check them out at least. So what, you didn’t like them, you’re free to do that, and I am free to like them. There are many bands I would like that you wouldn’t, and just the same for you for me. Writing a review against a band or movie is, in my opinion, very tricky. In the end, it just boils down to who chooses what for expression. Some bands are in it for the money, some are in it for fun, some are in it just to vent. It’s an art form. Some forms are just not for everybody.
I know what I say is repetitive, and I am sorry for that. I hoped I made some valid points, and feel free to respond to anything I have said.

To call a certain kind of music bad is to show your own ignorance. i obviously think hollywood undead kicks ass, however i do dislike some of their songs. that doesnt mean they are bad. that just means some of their songs do not appeal to me. Some other music that i really enjoy includes artists such as Salieri, Handel, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Easy Star All Stars, Mozart, Flipsyde, The Doors, and a bunch of others. You know, I gotta be honest with you… I just found The Hollywood Undead on MySpace. After doing a quick google search, your site came up. I do not like or dislike the music so far, but what I DO NOT have a stomach for, is Leslie’s review. Look, there’s no need to do any one of the following;
-Care about celebrities’ personal lives and their kids (don’t worry the kids will be F’d up too)
-Flip people off while driving (they might follow you home and beat your ass)
-Write overly negative music reviews (especially on unkown independent bands)

Okay, well I can honestly say Im not a huge fan of Hollywood Undead, but they do have catchy songs and many kids can relate to some of the stupid shit they say, but I mean as long as the kids can relate to it that’s all that really matters. Teenagers now adays. Listen to the things that appeal to them the most. H U’s music is something that most teenagers can relate to. Many of us “youngens”can relate to the storys that come from there music. and just because they wear masks and have “emo” tendencies doesnt mean jackk shit.

It’s one of the most ridiculous things when people refer to people like Britney Spears & Hollywood Undead as “artists.” These people are not artists. They are, if anything, anti-artists. They make music that makes you dumber when you listen to it. Real artistic musicians/songwriters make make music that makes you actually think. It’s enlightening in some way or another. And there’s many forms of music I would classify in this way - I’m not referring simply to lyrics or to musical sophistication. But a sense of wonder and excitement.
Regardless, It’s disturbing to me for anyone to refer to anything that Hollywood Undead does as “art.” It is surely not art. It is shit. It’s been formulated to appeal to braindead teenagers either purposely or just because they are that stupid themselves (that part I’m unsure about.)

1. I actually kind of like HU. Not because I think they are lyrical geniuses, mozart-lings, or “hot” for that matter but just because it’s entertaining. I’m of the age group that actually paid money to see Gwar. Yes Gwar. Every age group has had one. Kiss/Gwar/ now HU. LOL. My favorite lyric is, “Because Emo is one step below transvestite”. Yes, I wasn’t really thinking along the lines of constitutional rights when I typed that, I was thinking more along the lines of in ‘comparison to what’, if you understand what I mean there. How can you judge my music, is it worse than your music and your taste? To you sure, but to me, I may not agree with your music choices either, but that would be in relation to what I listen to. Then someone could come in to the argument and say we both have shitty tastes, and it would be compared to what they listen to.

Hollywood Undead is one of the best bands ever. They are the only band that can mix rap and screemo and make it sound decent. Just because you dont like their music doesnt meen its not good, I dont like Elvis but he is still good. Would you be able to do anything that they do? The masks are a way of protection, so they dont have to deal with all the crap celebs have to go through, so they can go to the store without being mobed, stuff like that. but really, if you honestly hate HU so much, then think it and get over it..
There’s no reason to type out some long uncited review. It’s a waste of

have done better than most, to be second most popular unsigned band
on myspace takes hardwork and dedication to the project. If you had a
band and you worked really hard to get where you are and someone like

Hollywood Undead is by far one of my most favorite bands. They have an amazing talent. I’m sure they do far better than you ever could. They sing about what they feel. Why the hell would you say crap about how somebody feels or about the stuff that they like? Try putting yourself in their position before you start talking shit. Try listening to their song Dead in Ditches. Maybe thats what they should do to you. And yes, a lot of us that like them are younger. We obviously have better taste. Maybe you should re consider what you’ve said about them. Hollywood Undead has a lot of talent. People like different things. I absolutely HATE any type of country music but you dont see me writing stupid little articles about how much i think it sucks. Have you ever thought about why they wear masks? People love this group because they use beats and rhythms that infectious and get easily stuck in your head. So many people say that HU is “innovative” and “versatile” that it makes me want to puke. Their music is incredibly unoriginal and predictable. There is a difference between claiming other artists as influences and blatantly copying their styles. They have as much variation in their rapping from song to song as Lil’ Jon.
I fear for the future when so many people love a group that is completely devoid of any kind of human emotion musically or lyrically. I’m not saying that they fail if they’re not as deep as Miles Davis or Elliot Smith but there’s a difference between party songs/club beats and making almost EVERY song you record a “let’s get shit-faced and fuck” track.
I agree with Leslie that Hollywood Undead must be joking. Unfortunately, whether they are serious about their music or not, they are laughing all the way to the bank. Score one for the artists who appeal to people with no taste in music.
Also, for those of you posting about how awesome you think Hollywood Undead is, PLEASE use some kind of argument other than “Fuck you! HU is an awesomely awesome band!” You’re making yourselves look like idiot douchebags who can’t think your way out of that Steel Reserve 40oz next to your laptop.

They’ve signed with A&M/Universal Records and will be launching a full scale tour this year, after their record is released. The record was produced by Danny Lohner (Nine Inch Nails) & Don Gilmore (Linkin Park).
Album will be out on A&M/Universal/Octone Records (The Hives, Maroon 5).It will be their first.
Apparently, they must be doing something right.

Your music at this current time, still have highe plays, or more profile views. How long do you think that’ll last though. Unlike Hollywood undead, bands like Linkin Park, SlipKnot, Korn, and Disturbed, Limp Bizkit. Have all had their prime times, and the humerous thing, Hollywood Undead is almost close to them, and they’ve only released what two Albums, if that i’m not really sure.
So, don’t bash something you know nothing about. That’s like me bashing on being a Doctor. I don’t know shit about it, so why would I do it.
Now, to squash your little mask idea. If you haven’t noticed by now, they have been seen without their masks. You say their just copying SlipKnot? Thats’ some shit, thats like saying everybody who sings, or plays an instrument on HalloWeen is copying Slipknot. So that’s another one of your little facts down the fucking drain.

They are not in their own right, a BAND. “BAND”s play instruments. Okay? They are a group that I would expect to hear at some San Francisco rave. Sure maybe their lyrics have some meaning, but they have no emotion. Nothing like “Panic Prone” by Chevelle.
They have imitated different bands, and even took the same notes/chord progression from a commercial (can’t remember which one right now) that can be found in “Circles”.
As far as a previous comment about how there is no band nowadays that hasn’t taken major influence from another band, what about System of a Down? Or do you not know who they are?
All I see is that HU says they’re “hardcore gangsters” (or whatever they say) that are apparently proud of debauchery and robbery. Then they turn around and do something incredibly gay and wear masks (what for a “cool” factor?). And these are not Slipknot or Mushroomhead masks, but more on par with Buckethead. The tenor voice has PINK and ROBIN’S EGG BLUE smeared on his Jason mask! WTF?!?!?

What about Linkin Park, Anberlin, Blink-182, +44, Avenged Sevenfold, Green Day, Hoobastank, Metallica, Motley Crue, Nickelback, Secondhand Serenade and so forth? those are all some of my favorite bands, just to name a few, who get played constantly on my itouch. and if you ask me, i think maybe just a couple of those bands would be considered “angry”.

Well, I have a love hate relationship with the kind of style Hollywood Undead is going for. It might very well in some teens’ minds be good music. I personally think the music sucks, but I can see how the lyrics could strike a chord in some of the youth in today’s world. Then again, I have almost no respect for the rap world as a whole. Anyone that can “make it big” by simply talking fast and using a drum machine will never hold a place in my musical heart. this review is no good…for one they refer to slipknots masks as a crap illusion..slipknots masks are a great part of a show..in case your like 12 years old there has been way more bands besides slipknot to wear costumes..its part of the show which i have to say slipknot puts one hell of a show on..music should be diverse, not the same crap you hear on the radio all night and day playing the same songs over and over..if all music was the same, music would be really boring and have no part of my life as well as many others i would imagine..obviously they are doing something right..they prolly makin more money than you are..peace

It really is truly sad that one person feels so strongly about this band being “the worst music ever” There are so many artists and musicians out now, how can someone really know what is the worst music ever. If you are going to call yourself a critic, be objective and not subjective. Maybe listen to other music in the same genre (if you can find it) because where this may not be the best music ever composed (comparitively speaking to greats that have stood the test of time like Billy Joel or Elvis Prestly, or even the Beatles) but for what it is a rap/hard rock hybrid, its well put together and sounds good.

Alright, I respect the guts that you have for reviewing the band in such a negative way and expressing your opinion, but that’s just it: opinion. I understand that you have strong feelings about this, it’s evident with the way you ripped them a new one. See, that is what I do not respect. You don’t like the band, we get it, that gives you no right to attack them like they’re the worst thing ever. If you don’t like them, fine, but place your words more carefully.
And please reconsider some of your statements. I don’t mean to criticize and I’m not attacking you either, that’s not the way I work (much unlike you). But, seriously. Sure, it’s clear that some of their lyrics should be taken less than seriously, but what about the lyrics that actually mean something. And if you care to give this band a chance instead of bashing all that they’ve worked for and accomplished, then you would realize that quite a few of their songs are meaningful and touching. Now, this has been mentioned somewhere above, I’m pretty sure. As people have pointed out already, they’re flexible with their music, it fits everybody, whether you like it or not. It’s not just for this type of person or suited for just this one. It’s not tailor made to fit any SPECIFIC person, it’s meant for anyone who cares to listen, anyone who’s open with their musical tastes.
Music is music. You can’t be one sided about it because we’re all different. You can’t expect everyone to agree with you on the facts that you have based off of your opinion on something. What you can expect is that this, obviously is creating turmoil and unwanted conflict. If you want to post something like this, expect to get negative remarks instead of praise. The review is well written, to say the least, but you could be a little less vulgar. And to the people that have made horrible remarks: We get it, you don’t like the band. That, again, gives you no right to threaten their well being or anything. They have their own style and just because it doesn’t agree with you or rubs you the wrong way doesn’t mean they’re awful to everyone else. Excuse my language: but search the mother fucking web and I’m sure you’ll find shit bashing every band and every style out there. Back the fuck off for once. Jesus Christ!
The fans: they can be devoted who they want to be devoted to. Why you’re categorizing us in association with poor musical selection or taste is beyond me. It’s not fair, either. People can have a wide musical variety. People can like every genre. Just because we like this music and think it’s great doesn’t mean we have poor judgment or we’re lacking depth. That’s far from it and it’s completely ridiculous how you’re not only ripping the band, but the fans who’ve decided to become loyal to them. We defend them because we respect them. About 13 years ago, I was the BIGGEST nine inch nails fan on the planet. I devoted so much time to listening, decoding, analyzing Trent Reznor’s lyrics. I bought into that shit BIG TIME. In response to a previously asked question, I knew I was listening to the worst music ever when, upon listening to the abomidable shitpile known as Hollywood Undead, I immediently rick roll’d myself to rid the taste from my ears (so to speak). Hollywood Undead is about as hardcore as a mickey mouse lunchbox. They sing about 40’s and hoes, yet the age group most consistent with them is mostly virgin and has to resort to stealing their dads beer or going dry lawl… Hollywood Undead is just the lastest trend of suck to emerge from pop music, and personally serves to me as a reminder why MTV sucks dick… I really hope someone calls me closeminded, because I am. I close my mind to garbage like this, cause it sucks. I listen to everything from Bob Dylan and Bob Marley to Nas and Jay-Z to Slayer and Mastodon, and I have never encountered anything so terrible as this… Swan Songs is more like a tribute album to ICP and other shitty as ‘hardcore’ rap than anything…

I heard some song on the radio a while back that sounds like the most awful piece of shit I’ve ever heard. Out of morbid curiousity, I wrote down some of the ‘lyrics’ and googled it. Ok, so I totally respect that this is your personal opinion. But thats the problem– I believe in keeping arguements completely biased. I can’t say that Hollywood Undead is the BEST music out there (because really, it isn’t) but give your reading audience a few reasons why. Right now it just sounds like your complaining for attention. (Maybe you aren’t, maybe you are. But thats what it sounds like). Tell me REASONS. Since you didn’t do it, I will.
Hollywood Undead’s lyrics aren’t constant. Sure, some songs show that they have talent, while other songs lyrics are really shallow in their meaning.
They do seem to mix many artist styles into one, which I enjoy because I think once music listeners can all agree on an artist then maybe their might be a way we can all connect. But you have to know how to do this correctly. Again, Hollywood Undead can have its triumphs, but other times not so.
(I would use song examples but I’m going to miss my bus. I litterally was disappointed in this article so I took my time to find how to comment this. Try rewriting this article to express some more facts than just ‘WAH WAH WAH WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GOOD MUSIC OF THE 80’s-90’s?’ I wondered the same thing.. until I realized.. Its the 2000’s now. Lol)

So it seems as if generalizations are being mad that teenagers listen to terrible music. As a soon-to-be music industry major I’d like to send a big Fuck You! (no offense) But if Alice in Chains, Shinedown, Dream Theater, All That Remains, Nevermore, Soilwork, and Opeth are bad music then obviously you don’t understand the concept of consonance and dissonance. I will agree of course that Hollywood Undead is absolute garbage and makes Limp Bizkit seems decent in comparison (thankfully Black Light Burns illustrates what happens if Fred Durst were to die). But the song “Undead” was playing from my radio as I was lifting the other day and while doing some heavy bench press, hearing these assholes screaming about how you can go fuck yourself if you don’t like their music just pisses me off and makes me work harder. And the masks. Jesus…Slipknot looks like a bunch of retards, GWAR are moronic. MASKS ARE GAY! Play music for the sake of playing music. Did Kurt Cobain wear a mask? Did Jimmy Page wear a jumpsuit and breathe fire? NO! So that’s all I have to say.

I’d just like to comment on a few of the things I’ve read in the comments about this article. I keep reading about how this is the writer’s opinion and how that doesn’t mean it’s true. If that’s so, why are all of the Hollywood Undead flunkies freaking out? Is it that they cannot take the criticism? Do they live in glass houses and they think the critics are throwing stones? If it’s just an opinion and it doesn’t matter to you, here’s some advice: IGNORE IT. I don’t see why you have to show up here and rant about how great your obnoxious waste of recording time of a band is.
I’ve seen it stated that you have to like this type of music to like Hollywood Undead, and that’s just not true. If you truly value the musical genres this monstrosity is butchering, you’ll hate them anymore. They’re an annoying mix of rap and rock, but they can’t do either well. Their singing is poor, and their rapping is well.. awful. I’m a die hard music lover with a wide range in tastes, especially hip hop. The first time I heard Hollywood Undead I almost took a shotgun to my head. This band is ruining what credibility music has left in the mainstream. Taking the worst of the worst and combining it into some amalgamation of shit.
They can’t rock.. and they can’t rap. They have good production and catchy hooks.. and admittedly a cool look. That’s it. You can like HU all you want.. but it’s not good music, it’s just popular. That’s just sad…
P.S. To all of the people trying to point out the meaning and quality of the lyrics to songs like “Circles” and “My Black Dahlia”, give me a fucking break. 96% of the songs produced in rock music are about the same damn things… its not hard to write a song about loss and anger, etc.. its hard to make music that matters.

This band is indeed a huge joke.
1) They’re a band created to appeal to the tools of society (the ones that think they’re “unique” because they like Rap, Metal(what they assume to be metal *cough*Disturbed*cough*) and all other genres of music instead of accquiring a real taste for any genre in order to avoid being judged by their peers.
2) Their lyrics may be deep to some people, but none of the subject matter they sing about is anything that hasn’t already been sung about.
3) They lack any technical playing ability as far as instruments go, yet they have six members in the band. From what I’ve heard by them they could easily accomplish what they already do with just four people. You can’t compensate lack of skill with numbers to better your sound and expect to be respected for it (see Slipknot the most overrated band of all time).
4)There is really no point in them wearing masks.
5) Most of their songs are just obnoxious and not deep at all.

Okay. After reading your review I have to disagree. I am one of the few people who have such a wide variety taste in music that they listen to anything.
I didn’t go on to the band myspace. I was introduced to them by a friend with a song called “City”. I liked it so I explored into the other songs. Some of the songs are pretty stupid I’ll admit. For example, No. 5. No. 5 is a song where they are surrounded by women in what you could describe as little clothing as possible, the songs lyrics comprise of how they are constantly partying and getting with girls while they are all drunk.
So yes. I agree with you that some of their songs are bad, but with songs such as Black Dahlia, Knife Called Lust etc. They can be quite good. Although, when I am in need of a laugh songs like Christmas time in Hollywood make me laugh.
So, go ahead and criticise all you want. Your tastes don’t match others who like the band. Me and you probably have similar tastes as well, because I listen to everything. Fact is, there are a lot of worse bands out there.

My main gripe is this: where would music be if there wasn’t bands like Hollywood Undead and the rest on Myspace? That’s right.. it would be non-existant or all the same monotomous I’m getting sick of hearing on Radio 1 here in the UK
The very fact that these bands are doing all they can to not follow a trend is fantastic and should be commended for it. Fair enough, it might not come off most of the time but at least they’re giving it a go. If the human race never thought “Hey.. that’s a bit different.. lets try it..” then we wouldn’t have the vast majority of luxuries that we have now in everyday life.
To the critics: if you can create perfect music without any critics then please, show us. Failing that, shut the fuck up and keep to your mainstream shite where the radio stations and tabloids continue their daily jizzfest over average at best twatbox musicians. Commend Hollywood Undead for having some guts and trying something different. Fair enough, the music is far from amazing but it’s a tad different from the mainstream horseshite.
I will say though, I relate to Black Daliha a lot due to the lyrics through personal experience. However, the mask gimmick is a bit shit and they don’t need to bother with it.

Simply put… music has to evolve with the times and technology. I’m sure there were Elvis fans who felt the same way you do when Pink Floyd hit the scene. I’m sure the were Pink Floyd fans who felt the same way when The Ramones debuted. And so on and so on…
It’s funny how Eminem seems to be ok… but HU music is just crap to you. While it may not appeal to you, you have to call a spade a spade.
Is the the music itself? Computer produced music? So I guess Timbaland’s works are just crap to you, when actually his success seems to be alot more than yours. Drum machines, MIDI controllers, and computer screens are quickly replacing wasted hours of practice with BS bandmates and the drama of people getting their panties in a twist. Higher sound quality and less crap… sign me up.
Is it the lyrics? So… please tell me what we as artists should write about? What is “cool” for you? Fluffy bunnies? Love? World peace? Not everyone out there shares the same out look of life or the same suburban, trust fund life that is just peaches and cream. Some of us out there actually had to struggle and fight to get ourselves out of bad situations. But its lame to write about that, right? Instead we should grab an acoustic guitar and write a song about John Lennon and play for tips at Starbucks? The more someone can relate to music, the more its going to appeal with them. Thus… the more apt it is to sell.
Maybe its the masks? Why not? Cirqe de Solei wears masks… are they posers too? Its all about persona and some of us prefer to maintain a level of mystery while we challenge the norms of society that we are opposed to.
Since we are handing out opinions as truth here, I’ll give you some of my truth. I think you are one of the people stuck in the past and are scared to adapt. In order to have any lifespan in the music industry, you have to be able to adapt to the winds of change. If its not your style of music and you are more of a Skynard fan, then why not focus on that genre? Personally, I think Beyonce is crap.. but its not my style of music, so I just keep my mouth shut because I can’t make an opinion on something I don’t know. Perhaps you might want to consider the same….

While I don’t agree with the critic’s review, I do enjoy the band in question. They’re not great, they’re nothing special, but they’re decent. Ok, people in this discussion are incredibly closed-minded, and need to look outside of the box for a change. For everyone who is older and believes that music is getting worse and worse as time goes on…When you were younger, i.e. during the Metallica, Slayer, or even farther back during the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin era, did the older people of your generation approve of that music? Hell no. Now I’m not saying that I necessarily like this music or don’t. I’m not a huge fan of rap. However, I’m very open to hearing new music as listening to the same genres all the time, no matter how much I like it, gets boring. I like everything from old school crooners to heavy rock like Avenged Sevenfold, my favorite band, as well as everything in between. Times change, so does the music, and the kids change with it. The kind of music a kid ultimately ends up liking has little, if anything, to do with parenting. Christ, people used to think Elvis was the Devil for dancing “explicitly”. Really? Older people are always going to find something wrong with the music of younger generations. Whether that be with the instrumentals, the lyrics, or the style of the music. Deal with it. Times change and things change with time. I’ll bet your parents didn’t agree with music back in the ’60’s, ’70’s and ’80’s. Not to mention that back in those days drugs were just as prevelent, if not more, than they are during music today. So don’t judge music that other people enjoy if you’re not prepared to look at the flaws of your own music. I’m not defending HU for having dirty lyrics, or saying that they’re the best band ever. However, what I AM saying is that such thing as a perfect band that does no wrong does NOT, has not, and NEVER WILL exist. LIVE WITH IT.

Well, i agree that HU is trash, i also agree that they are basically a mix of limp bizkit (whom i like), eminem (whom i also like) and the backstreet boys (i do not like), which normally, if used correctly, would be ok, but HU just takes it too far, really they are just skater posers that “rap” about “fucking hoes” and “drinking beer” … anyways, to answer your question, yes, they are the worst music EVER.

How can you say Hollywood Undead is bad music, and insist that they are not artists?
Whether you approve of their choice of words and style of writing doesn’t mean they aren’t extremely talented musicians. They have excellent control over their writing, using the flow of words and their rhymes with more skill than many writers could ever dream of. Believe me, I’m a damn good writer, and I wish I could have half the talent of these men. Also note that I don’t spend my time attacking bands because they’re more popular than me.
But instead of acknowledging their talent, you choose to mock them because you wouldn’t fit in with them if you met them in person.
Also, they are not in any way (as far as I know) associated with Slipknot, and they are not the first band to keep their identities hidden, for whatever reason. Their choice, deal with it.
Nor do they “imitate” any other artists. There are hundreds of millions (literally) of musicians in this world. The fact that they all use 12 notes and the English language doesn’t make it copying. There are only 12 notes and most of these guys only speak English. That they would come up with something similar on their own isn’t surprising. Using you’re argument, I could just as easily blame you for copying me by separating your sentences into paragraphs.
That’s my thing, stop doing it. Now. /sarcasm
If you want to attack artists (and they are artists, no matter how good or bad they may be), stick to someone who actually deserves it, like Soulja Boy, Brokencyde, or yourself (You’ve really got to learn how to stay on subject instead of dancing around it).

This article actually made me smile, at least someone on this earth has some sense. I’m a 17 year old girl, and I take much pride in the music that I listen to. Hollywood Undead will never have the blessing of being a part of that category. Sure, not everyone enjoys what I listen to, and that sucks for them. They can go enjoy Brokencyde or Hollywood Undead or 3oh3, all of which, they don’t know, are JOKE BANDS. Brokencyde was formed as a complete 100% joke just to see if people will like them. And look at them now. They’re 2009 album was even named ‘Im Not a Fan, But the Kids Like It!’ And people I know will STILL tell me that they’re talented. That’s living proof that I am surrounded by complete morons. No wonder. I am convinced that Hollywood Undead had the exact same motive. Any dumbass who says that their music is ‘deep and inspiring’ obviously has no idea what they are talking about, and hasn’t listened to music that actually is DEEP and INSPIRING. Sure, they’re music can send out some positive messages to some, but that’s just because those people don’t have the intelligence to understand lyrics that aren’t written in black and white, which Hollywood Undead’s lyrics are. All of these bands will never become anything other than complete, useless garbage.

I’m not a big nu-metal/rap-metal fan but their are better bands out of those genres such as rage against the machine, korn, slipknot, system of a down, deftones, mudvayne, sevendust, soulfly, mushroomhead, incubus, biohazard,,,,,,,,,,etc
And I don’t even like most of these bands, I’m just saying if you like this type of music you could do MUCH better.

I hate this band. They are just shit. Okay, Charlie Scene is a nice name. And their masks would look nice at halloween. And their rhyming vocabulary is pretty good (Like Eminem.) But they are just shit. Please don’t make them money. You can’t name a song “bitches” and then not provide a decent beat, or style, or a good track record. It just all mixes together as a bunch of fags (In the South Park way) prancing around, desperate for attention (Like the South Park way.) I’m 15- I know I don’t write like it- but I still think they are just shit. And I hate it even more because I don’t think any non-white people listen to them. Music that can only be enjoyed by one race tends to be shit, and if black people don’t enjoy it, well they have a better taste in music anyway (on the whole, with the exception of lil wayne.)
