John Wozniak Was Born On January 19, 1971

John Wozniak was born on January 19th of 1971 in St. Paul, Minnesota.

He is the lead vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter for the alternative rock band Marcy Playground whose 1997 self titled debut album was a substantial commercial success (it is certified Platinum by the RIAA.)

The album contained the hit single “Sex and Candy” which reached #1 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart in the US in 1998. It stayed at #1 for a record (since broken) of 15 consecutive weeks. The song reached #8 on the overall pop charts.

“Saint Joe on the School Bus” was the follow-up single to “Sex and Candy” and it reached #8 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart.

The band has released only two more albums since then; 1999′s Shapeshifter and 2004′s MP3. Shapeshifter included the minor hit “It’s Saturday” which reached #25 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart.

Their fourth studio album is expected to be released this year in February or March. It’s titled Leaving Wonderland… in a fit of rage.
