Johnny Ramone was born as John William Cummings on October 8, 1948 in Long Island, New York.

He’s most well known as the guitarist for the very influential punk rock band The Ramones. Some consider The Ramones to be the very first punk rock band. They were formed in 1974 in Queens, New York.

As a guitarist, he is known for his extremely fast playing. He was a rhythm guitarist and he rarely played lead parts. Most lead parts on The Ramones studio albums were played by other guitarists.

The Ramones first album was titled simply Ramones and was released on April 23, 1976. The album’s first track remains one of The Ramones most well known songs, “Blitzkrieg Bop.”
