Joni Mitchell was born as Roberta Joan Anderson on November 7th of 1943 in Canada.
Mitchell is primarily known for her early 1970s singer songwriter output. 1971’s Blue and 1974’s Court and Spark are typically seen as her best albums and they are her two highest rated albums currently on rateyourmusic.com
Mitchell’s highest charting single was 1974’s “Help Me” from Court and Spark which reached #7 in the US and #6 in the UK.
She is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (inducted in 1997) and she received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002. She was ranked as the 72nd greatest guitarist of all time by Rolling Stone in 2003. She was the highest ranked woman on the list.
