Kenneth “Kenny” Loggins was born on January 7th of 1948 in Alhambra, California.
Loggins first became well known as one half of the Loggins & Messina duo with Jim Messina making up the other half. Their first album together was 1971’s Sittin’ In which was originally going to be a Kenny Loggins solo album. Messina started off just as a producer for the album but he ended up adding backing vocals, guitar, and actually writing some of the songs on the album so it became the birth of the Loggins & Messina group.
That first album included “House at Pooh Corner” which was written by Loggins. Although it was not a single, it became a favorite of many Loggins & Messina fans.
Their second album was 1972’s Loggins & Messina. It hit #16 on the album charts and it included their biggest hit single, “Your Mama Don’t Dance” which hit #4. 1976’s Native Sons was their final 6th and final studio album. It also reached #16 on the album charts.
Loggins began his solo career at that point and he had a lot of success with singles from movie soundtracks beginning with “I’m Alright” from the Caddyshack soundtrack which hit #7 on the US singles charts. In 1984 he had his only #1 single with “Footloose” from the Footloose soundtrack. In 1986 he had a #2 single with “Danger Zone” from the Top Gun soundtrack.

Good article however, Kenny was born in Everett, Washington and moved to Alhambra with his family at a young age.
He is currently still touring and has released several new ablbums and his career and fan base is going strong.
