Guitarist Mike Bloomfield was born on July 28th of 1943 in Chicago, Illinois.
Bloomfield is probably best known for his work with Bob Dylan. Bloomfield was the lead guitarist on Dylan's first electric guitar based music (as he moved away from purely acoustic folk music.) Dylan played his first ever electric gig on July 25th, 1965 at the Newport Folk Festival and Bloomfield was the lead guitarist at that show.
Bloomfield's guitar work with Dylan is probably best featured on record on the Dylan album Highway 61 Revisited.
Bloomfield died on February 15, 1981 from a heroin overdose. He was 37 years old.
