Kate Bush Topped The UK Album Charts On September 20, 1980

Kate Bush became the first British female to top the UK album charts with Never for Ever on September 20th of 1980. It was her 3rd studio album.

The album's first track is "Babooshka" which reached #5 on the UK singles charts.

The Rolling Stones Emotional Rescue hits #1 in the UK on July 5, 1980

The Rolling Stones album Emotional Rescue became their 9th #1 UK album on the 5th of July in 1980.

The album featured the singles "Emotional Rescue" and "She's So Cold."

Paul McCartney's McCartney II Hits #1 in the UK On May 31, 1980

Paul McCartney's first solo album after Wings final album 1979's Back To The Egg was 1980's McCartney II which included the hit single "Coming Up." Although the version on the album is quite different from the hit single version which was actually a live recording.

The album hit #1 in the UK (on May 31, 1980) and #3 in the US.

McCartney II is like his first solo album 1970's McCartney in that Paul played all of the instruments on the album.

Ian Curtis hung himself on May 18, 1980

Joy Division's Ian Curtis was only 23 years old when he hung himself on May 18th of 1980. He would be 50 years old if he were still alive today.

It was reported that he was listening to Iggy Pop's The Idiot while he killed himself. He left a note saying "At this very moment, I wish I were dead. I just can't cope anymore."

Albert Hammond Jr was born on April 9, 1980

Albert Hammond Jr. was born in Los Angeles on April 9th of 1980. Today he turns 27 years old.

Hammond is a guitarist for the indie rock band The Strokes. He plays both rhythm and lead guitar parts.

Hammond released a solo album in 2006 called Yours To Keep. Sean Lennon collaborated with him on this album.
