Aerosmith Hits #1 On The US Charts With "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" On September 5, 1998

Aerosmith's "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" went to #1 on the US charts on September 5th of 1998. Despite over 20 years as a popular band, it was their very first #1 single. The song was written by Diane Warren.

The song was featured on the soundtrack to the hit movie Armageddon which starred Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler's daughter Liv Tyler. It also starred Bruce Willis, Billy Bob Thornton, and Ben Affleck.

To this day "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" is Aerosmith's only #1.

They have had seven other top 10 hits: "Dream On" hit #6 in 1976, "Walk This Way" hit #10 in 1977, "Angel" hit #3 in 1988, "Love in an Elevator" hit #5 in 1989, "Janie's Got a Gun" hit #4 in 1990, "What It Takes" hit #9 in 1990, & "Jaded" hit #7 in 2001.

He was born Stephen Victor Tallarico in New York.

Aerosmith has sold over 140 million albums worldwide and over 66 million in the United States alone. Although they are often said to be a Boston band none of the members are actually from Boston. They did base the band in Boston.
