Mary Hanson Was Born On November 1, 1966

Mary Hanson was born on November 1st of 1966 in Australia.

Hanson is most well known as a singer, guitarist, keyboardist, & percussionist for Stereolab. She joined the band in 1992. Stereolab has not been a hugely successful band commercially (their highest charting album is 1997’s Dots and Loops which hit #111 in the US & #19 in the UK) but they have a strong following and have had much critical praise during their career.

Stereolab released six albums with Hanson as a member. The most recent being 2001’s Sound-Dust.

Hanson died in a tragic accident on December 9, 2002 at the age of 36. She was hit by a truck and killed while bicycling in London.

Stereolab has released two more albums since Hanson’s death. 2004’s Margerine Eclipse, and 2008’s Chemical Chords.
