Last.FM’s Best 10 Albums Of 2008

Last.FM is one of my favorite websites. It tracks the listening habits of millions of music obsessed people all over the world (you can have your listening habits tracked by becoming a member – it’s free.)

They’ve just put out their list of the 10 best albums of 2008 which is based on which albums released in 2008 were listened to (at least one song from the album listened to at least once) by the most people on Last.FM.

This is their list from #10 to #1

#10 Sigur Ros – Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust
#09 Jack Johnson – Sleep Through The Static
#08 Hot Chip – Made In The Dark
#07 Death Cab for Cutie – Narrow Stairs
#06 The Kooks – Konk
#05 The Ting Tings – We Started Nothing
#04 Nine Inch Nails – Ghosts I-IV
#03 Portishead – Third
#02 MGMT – Oractular Superstar
#01 Coldplay – Viva La Vida

They also released a top 10 tracks of 2008 which unsurprisingly are mostly songs from the top two ranked albums. Here they are: “Kids,” “Electric Feel,” & “Time to Pretend” by MGMT, “Strawberry Swing,” “42,” “Cemeteries of London” “Life in Technicolor” “Violet Hill” and “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay, along with “I Kissed a Girl” by Katy Perry.

“Kids” by MGMT (unofficial video, not made by the band)

“Violet Hill” by Coldplay (unofficial fan made video)

  1. I would have included the official videos for these bands but they don’t allow embedding. Lame. Why in the hell wouldn’t you want your video embedded? Isn’t a music video advertisement for your music?

  2. Also, I’d never even heard of a few of these bands before today, I guess I should be more plugged into this BS… right?
