Lies UnKnown

First I’ll post the spam that these guys left on a recent entry:

Real True Band “Lies unKnown”

Forget about tuning in to another band that sounds like the last ten you’ve just heard. “Lies unKnown” is a real true to life Detroit Rock & Roll Band. Originating from the surrounding suburbs, they have united together to bring you some of the best music the Motor City has to offer. Through their live performance at nightclubs, concert theaters and all age events, “Lies unKnown” is gaining recognition while connecting with an audience of all genres. The album tracks are available for download on iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, emusic, LALA and other digital platforms. The full length album can be purchased from the following websites: myspace.com/LiesunKnown and darkgreene.com

Home is definitely center stage for the front man, singer/songwriter/guitarist “Justin Alexander”. As the driving force behind the band, he pours out his soul in each song of his performance. His ability to capture and address the attention of the listener is reminiscent of many legendary artists of the past. He was born in the city of Detroit on August 16, 1988. His parents were performing musicians, so, Justin started cutting his teeth on Rock & Roll from day one. But, by the age of five his parents separated, Justin’s heartaches, hard times and life experiences would become his writing template.

Heartache seems to run like water in the streets and the pain expressed in his songs are of a broken home and an attempt to recapture what was lost. “Justin’s” lyrics tell of a path that one has to live to be able to write about.

Bassist “Sara Cole” is probably one of the hottest things that you will ever see with four strings and a skirt! But don’t get fooled by the visual appeal, “Sara” is half of the rock solid driving foundation for “Lies unKnown”. Passion, Emotion and Precision (PEP) are the only words that define “Sara’”, she is prepared and ready for what ever the moment brings, and she definitely delivers the element of surprise to her audience. As a lead guitarist “Jamie Allen” sets the stage with action, enthusiasm and fire. His approach on stage becomes contagious for anyone watching him perform. “Jamie’s” chops are a compliment to the music of “Lies unKnown”. Flavorsome melodic guitar riffs and superb backing vocals are the principal rudiments to any great live act. These undeniable qualities bring his performances to a new echelon.

“Joe (Joe Pizzazz) Piazza” drummer for “Lies unKnown” has the potential to steal every girl’s heart. Lighting up a stage seems to be effortless as he displays his charismatic persona that magically lures ones imagination. But, the business of performing live differentiates him from any other; he is all about giving an instinctive hard hitting performance. And, the fans have the satisfaction of experiencing the magic, when he hits it.

First of all, guys, posting comment spam on music blogs is not a good way to get your name out there. It’s just not. And if you are going to comment spam make it something less lame than that, if you can? One thing I’m not too fond of is unnecessary “quotes” like the ones you use around the name of the band’s bassist “Sara Cole” – WTF are the quotes for? How about the quotes on the band’s name? That’s just unacceptable, you don’t put fucking quotes around everything God damn it. I already knew that this is an epidemic among the unwashed masses but it’s really getting out of control and your spam has set me over the edge. Man, not to get all English major on your asses, but for God’s sake that’s some despicable grammar. I know my shit isn’t perfect here (far from it.) But the whole “using” quotes every “other” word when they are “completely” unnecessary really drives me “crazy.”

Secondly, your little sales pitch (and that’s exactly what it sounds like – like something you’d hear on an infomercial if infomercials sold pop bands) is BS. You start off by saying “are you tired of bands that sound just like the last 10…” and well yes. Sure. I would be if I listened to the radio. But I did actually go and listen to Lies UnKnown (seriously may be the lamest band name ever) and it took about 20 seconds of “Open Water” to know that Lies UnKnown actually sounds exactly like all of the other crap on the radio that makes me… not listen to the radio in the first place. It’s cheesy unimaginative Green Day “inspired” BS.

Thirdly, lay off the goddamn autotune.

And finally; have you guys actually listened to any of the bands on your “influences” list? Doesn’t sound like it.

  1. From what i have heard about Lies Unkniwn, I have heard nothing but positive things about the band. I have also heard that Justin is an amazing person that really strives for what he believes in. This band is doing what they believe in, and to put them down is absolutely wrong.

  3. Lies Unknown is a truly talented band who will surely not be affected by your criticism because after all, any publicity is good publicity. Justin, Jamie, Joe, and Sarah are all amazing musicians and people who came together about a year ago. These four have always been in it to help out the fans; helping the fans get through their own troubles by giving them something to believe in which clearly shows in the song lyrics. That’s what their music is about, HELPING others.

I will admit that the whole “quote” thing is a bit too much, although so is your use of curse words. You’ve obviously not seen/watched videos of the band live, because if you did you would know that there is hardly any autotone at all used in the bands recordings. I highly recommend you make it out to one of their shows in the future, I think you’ll be surprised at their stage energy that always gets the crowd pumped up.

  8. gotta love “street teamers” who come to the bands defense!
question, didn’t lies unknow write “she’s a slut” about their now ex bass player “sydney” or “sarah cole”? thats what i heard anyways… i also heard they kicked her out of the band because she is so much older than the rest of the guys. just wondering…

  9. She’s A Slut was written by Justin Alexander when Justin was in the band called The White Lies. Their, then, bassist was a guy named Rob Barker. No, She’s A Slut is not about Sarah at all. Also, Sarah was not kicked out. She left on her own terms because she was moving to Florida.

-To the “critic” (OH, NO! A QUOTE!)
Listen, Guy. You need to take it easy. As a fan of Lies Unknown, I can tell you that the reason Lies Unknown caught my attention was because they didn’t sound like any other band I’ve ever heard. Like you said, you don’t listen to the radio so how would you know what’s played on the radio nowadays and what’s not? You listened to the song Open Water? Well, if you listened to any one of their other songs you would realize that that particular song is what many of their friends and fans consider radio-friendly.

As for their influences. You’re right they don’t sound like The Beatles or The New York Dolls, but what’s the point of sounding like another band? It’s called being “original” and trying to sound like another band, well, isn’t exactly being original, is it? Maybe the bands listed influenced them to start a rock band. Just because you like a band doesn’t mean you want to sound like them. It just means you enjoy the music they make.

One thing you lost from me while posting this was respect. Now, I know that the whole world isn’t going to like their stuff, but at least try to be profressional when writing reviews. How can you think anyone’s going to take you seriously if you’re going to curse. I mean I can understand not liking a band, but going out of your way to post a less-than-professional review about a band kind of shows jealousy and insecurity. Are you insecure? Do you feel threatened by Lies Unknown? You seriously had something to say about their band name? Lies Unknown I think is an excellent band name. Just think of the names not the music:

    Led Zeppelin
    Triumph
    The Police
Bob Segar and the Silver Bullet Band
    Metallica

Some silly names if you ask me. It’s not about the name of the band. It’s about the music behind the name. Seriously, I’m going to start and band name and called it The Ash Trays, and I’m pretty sure if we make great music and build a huge following, no one is going to care that the name of my band is the Ash Trays.

Honestly, man, if you can create the perfect band name, write better music, promote, and market better than these guys. Then why aren’t you signed to a major label and making millions? Oh, I know why because you can’t. You’re a nobody and you’ll remain a nobody. No one knows who you are, and with an attitude like that, no one will ever know who you are because they won’t take you seriously. I think you ought to find a new profession because I don’t think being a music critic is your calling. If you’re wondering who this is, you’ll know who I am really soon. I guarantee it.
