My other favorite music site (besides Last.FM) is RateYourMusic.com which is a site where people can rate their albums which crates album rankings. I enjoy reading the reviews people write and seeing the ratings of the various albums (and the rankings.)

This article is on how Michael Jackson’s six studio albums (as an adult) rate on RateYourMusic.com, the highest rating an album can get is 5.

#1 Thriller (1982) 4.00

It’s no surprise that Thriller is Jackson’s highest rated album by the users of this website. It’s ranked as the 11th best album of 1982.

#2 Off the Wall (1979) 3.92

While less known by most casual fans than his later albums Bad & Dangerous, Off the Wall has received more critical acclaim over the years. It was his debut solo album as an adult (he was 19 when it was released.)

#3 Bad (1987) 3.59

Bad had a ridiculous five #1 singles in the US. I think it’s an underrated album (including by the users of this website.)

#4 HIStory (1995) 3.55

The ratings on this one are a bit confusing because one half of the album is a “Greatest Hits” disc while the other disc was all new material. The most well known new song on this album is probably “You Are Not Alone” which was his final #1 in the US, on the other hand “Earth Song” went to #1 in the UK and actually was his biggest selling single ever there.

#5 Dangerous (1991) 3.25

Includes “Black or White,” “Heal the World,” “Give In to Me,” “Who Is It,” “Will You Be There,” & “Remember the Time.” All six of these songs reached the top 10 in the US or the UK (and in many cases, both.)

#6 Invincible (2001) 2.42

A 2.42 rating is awfully low but I really don’t think this album is nearly as bad as people make it out to be. I will agree that it’s his worst album, but I still think it has quite a few redeeming qualities.
