Michael Jackson’s Thriller Is The Highest Selling Non Comp Album In The US

Michael Jackson’s 1982 album Thriller is the highest selling non compilation album in the history of the United States with 27 million copies sold according to the RIAA.
The album continues to sell about 60,000 copies a year in the US.
Along with it’s huge sales figures in America, Thriller was also a smash hit throughout the world. It’s sold over 3.5 million copies in the UK, over 3 million in France, over 2.5 million in Japan, over 2 million in Canada, over 2 million in Brazil, and over 1.5 million in Germany. According to the RIAA and Sony the album has sold over 55 million copies total worldwide.
The album contained 7 top 10 singles including the classic hits “Billy Jean,” “Beat It,” “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin,” and of course “Thriller.”
The Eagles greatest hits compilation for ‘71 to ‘75 has sold 29 million copies and is the only album of any kind that sold more than Thriller in the US.
