Mick Jagger Turns 65 Today
By Marvin Marks on Jul 26, 2008 in Music Trivia
Mick Jagger was born in Kent, England on July 26, 1943.
Jagger is lead singer for The Rolling Stones. He is one half of the Jagger/Richards (Keith Richards, lead guitarist) songwriting team that has written most of The Rolling Stones songs.
The band has released 22 studio albums. Their most recent being A Bigger Bang in 2005. Their first being their self titled album released on April 16, 1964 on the heels of Beatlemania. Ridiculously enough, the US version of this album (with a slightly different track listing) came out the following month with the title England’s Newest Hit Makers.
Their early albums consisted mostly of cover songs. It wasn’t until their 4th album, 1966’s Aftermath that they started to showcase their original songs. In fact all 14 songs on the album were Jagger/Richards originals compared to just 3 originals on their previous album 1965’s Out of Our Heads. It includes classics like “Mother’s Little Helper” and “Under My Thumb.”
