Morrissey Thy God
By Mozart Breath on Apr 29, 2008 in Features

Believe me when I say that Morrissey is the most brilliant artist in the history of life on earth. Go ahead and take a look, there is no one to compare to this mad genius of the intellectual set. He is god’s own pet, the original mope madman and one hell of a poet. He makes Arthur Rimbaud look like William F. Buckley, Jr. He makes time simply go away; Morrissey is his own universe and understands the inner workings of everything. Heaven is his second home, his first home is in your respective hearts and minds. We all know that the Smiths invented Rock, granted. But did you know that the band collectively under Morrissey’s spiritual guidance cured absolutely all forms of cancer that affected woman, child and man?
Morrissey has gotten one hell of a studio tan over the years, and this is due largely to his fantastical output as a solo artist. I admire the haircut, we all should. After all, he is more hair than man. The music then, is slick and Adult Contemporary with a strong hint of attitude to boot. Morrissey is the most complex gentlemen in the history of Pop, again, read the subject heading: Morrissey Thy God (and don’t make me tell you twice). As a solo artist, I quite enjoy “Suedehead” which has such a powerful sense of melancholy and a bizarre undercurrent of anger and regret that’s hard to describe, because really, with Morrissey, it’s all in the words. Allow me to present another example off his solo debut, the obvious second single “Everyday is like Sunday”. A song that is simply beautiful, melodically splendid and downright tear-inducing. Many an inferior artist has sadly attempted to cover “Everyday is like Sunday,” but none is worth mentioning, and these cover versions are to be avoided like the plague.
But my question for you is this, what exactly is Morrissey up to today? Because I essentially lost track/interest after the “The More You Ignore Me, the Closer I Get” single…

Speaking of the Smiths, I had a friend question me one day when I was singing “Girlfriend in a coma” and he said.
“Are you sure it’s not Tacoma?”
hahahaha…alright back on topic, i kind of lost favor in him after he left the smiths - mostly because of what i heard or saw from him…but who knows now if the music hits me i’d listen to it

I never got into The Smiths. I do like “How Soon Is Now” though.
