Music Like Radiohead On Last.FM

I like to use the ol’ “music like _____” feature on the Last.FM website to find new music I may dig or to be reminded of music I already know that I haven’t heard in awhile. So anyway. This is a “live blog” on what my Last.FM player gives me as being “like Radiohead.” I’ll even include a YouTube clip of each song (if I can find one anyway) so you can follow along at home.

#1 Radiohead – “All I Need”

I’ll agree with Last.FM, this is a lot like Radiohead. It also might be my favorite song on In Rainbows (which is saying a lot as I love the whole album.) So pretty nice way to get started. I think they always start off by playing a track from the artist/band that you put in, although I’m not positive about that.

#2 Sigur Ros – “Svefn-g-Englar”

I haven’t been listening to Sigur Ros much lately although I’m a pretty big fan of them – so this is a pretty tasty treat. This is a pretty delicious track in fact.

#3 Beck – “Golden Age”

Ah yes, nice. Sea Changes. I haven’t listened to this album in awhile. See ol’ Last.FM knows just where to scratch me.

#4 Jonny Greenwood – “Trench”

I really quite enjoy Bodysong. Sure it’s a “difficult” listen but it’s a rewarding one. Speaking of Jonny Greenwood’s solo work, I watched There Will Be Blood a couple of nights ago and it was quite the film. Indeed.

(this youtube clip is actually “Moon Mall” + “Trench”)

#5 Placebo – My Sweet Prince

This is a band I’ve kind of dismissed from what I heard of them a long time ago. But this track is alright. I don’t really love the guys voice though.

#6 Bloc Party – Flux

This sucks. This is some cheezy BS. Not a fan of this band.

#7 Coldplay – Fix You

Alright, Last.FM – you’re starting to piss me off. I don’t hate Coldplay but they are ridiculously overrated. This is a freakin’ boring song. I mean I see what they are going for. But it’s no “Fake Plastic Trees.” Not even close, in fact. This biz just sounds too Hallmark for me – it’s a bit by the numbers.
