I’ve done this before with Radiohead & Pink Floyd. This time it’s The Beatles. Basically it works like this: I put The Beatles into the Last.FM player and I hear what it gives me. BTW, Last.FM is great. (Of course I’ve mentioned that a few times before.)

John Lennon – “Jealous Guy”

One of my favorite Lennon songs, although this is an alternate version I’m not too familiar with. The melody of this song was originally a Beatles song called “Child of Nature” that was to be included on The White Album but that didn’t happen (possibly because it was thought to be too similar to Paul McCartney’s “Mother Nature’s Son” which was included on The White Album. You can find bootleg recordings of “Child of Nature” if you look around.

The Kinks – “This Time Tomorrow”

I’m not as familiar with The Kinks as I probably should be. I’ve got a couple of their albums and a greatest hits collection but I haven’t listened to them all that much. I dig them. But I’ve just never really got into them for whatever reason. This is a pretty cool song. I’ve probably heard it before but I don’t really recognize it.

The Hollies – “Bus Stop”

I’ve always loved this song but I don’t really know The Hollies music all that well. I don’t think I even have a greatest hits album by ‘em. I should eh? I do dig this song a lot.

Wings – “Mull of Kintyre”

Strangely being a huge Beatles fan and a rather large Paul McCartney/Wings fan I didn’t ever hear this song until rather recently. It’s pretty awesome.

The Monkeys – “Daydream Believer”

This isn’t one of my favorite songs but I can see the appeal. The sound quality on Last.FM player is pretty awful sometimes and can give the song a sort of strange distorted sound which can lead to some unusual perceptions. Like this was some insane garage band who recorded this thing on some cheap tape recorder. A total DIY sort of effort. I think I appreciate a bit more thinking of it like that actually.

The Mamas & The Paps – “Do You Wanna Dance”

This is a pretty weird song. I’m not too familiar with it. Everything actually sounds pretty weird right now. What in the hell did they put in my water? Just to note the (M) is untrue and was marked after things started getting unusual. So if you sense a shift, that’s when it came.

Cream – “Politician”

This is dirty track. I’ve always liked what I’ve heard from Cream but I’ve not listened to them a whole lot. Maybe I should? I actually got some Cream “Greatest Hits” record on vinyl and was listening to it the other day on the ol’ record player. I know it can be pretty hip to make the poop on ol’ Eric Clapton and I’m not his hugest fan or anything but when he was on he was pretty darn good.

The Beach Boys – “God Only Knows”

My internet is a demon. It really is. So this was the next song up but the internet stopped working before it would play. Now I’m typing this and hoping the internet comes back on so I can save this post.

So yes, “God Only Knows” I am very familiar with. I love Pet Sounds. I quite dig The Beach Boys in general. And I saw ol’ Brian Wilson live over the summer which was pretty cool even though he’s definitely not at the top of his game. He is doing his thing which is pretty cool.
