The Discovery Box Set

This 16 disc box set includes all of Pink Floyd’s fourteen studio albums from 1967′s Piper at the Gates of Dawn to 1994′s The Division Bell.
All of the albums have been digitally remastered by James Guthrie (who co-produced The Wall.) The Discovery Box Set also includes an exclusive 60 page artwork booklet designed by Storm Thorgerson.
This box set is set to be released on September 27th of this year. It can be ordered on Amazon.com now. The cool thing about ordering on Amazon (besides the free shipping and that it’s almost always cheaper than local big box stores) is that if the price goes down before it’s shipped, you’ll get that new lower price.
The Dark Side of the Moon Immersion Box Set
1973′s The Dark Side of the Moon is one of the most popular and most influential albums of all time. Although it’s nearly 40 years old it still gains new fans on a regular basis. To give some idea of it’s enduring popularity and influence with younger generations; from 1991 to 2006 it sold nearly 8 million copies in the United States.
Worldwide it has sold about 45 million copies. It was only the #1 album in the US for a single week but it stayed in the Billboard album 200 charts for 741 consecutive weeks (the longest duration in history.)
But if you’re reading this you are probably already very familiar with The Dark Side of the Moon, you’re probably wanting to know what this Immersion Box Set version of it is all about.
As the name implies, it’s a fully “immersive” way to experience this brilliant album. It includes a total of six discs.
The first disc is a CD featuring the album itself, the newly digitally remastered version also included in the new Pink Floyd Discovery Boxset.
The second disc is a CD featuring the entire album performed live by Pink Floyd at Wembley Stadium in London in 1974. This is a previously unreleased live performance.
The third disc is a DVD (audio only) which includes three different mixes of the album including Alan Parsons Quad Mix from 1973 which has never been released digitally before. It also features the 2003 5.1 surround sound mix previously released on SACD.
The fourth disc is a DVD (audio & visual) which features concert screen films from 1974 and 1975 tours, 1972 live performances of “Careful With That Axe Eugene” and “Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun,” and a 25 minute documentary on The Dark Side of the Moon. The fifth disc is a blueray version of this same material.
The sixth disc is a CD which features a previously unreleased early mix (from 1972) of The Dark Side of the Moon by Alan Parsons and some additional previously unreleased rarities such as a demo version of “Money.”
The Dark Side of the Moon Immersion Box Set is going to be released on the same day as The Discovery Box Set (September 27, 2011.)
Wish You Were Here Immersion Box Set
Wish You Were Here was released in 1975. This box set version includes a total of five discs (2 CDs, 2 DVDs, and 1 bluray.)
The first disc is a CD that includes the album itself, the same newly remastered version that is included in The Discovery Box Set.
The second disc is a CD that includes a live version of “Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts 1-6)” from 1974 and some other previously unreleased tracks such as an alternate version of “Have A Cigar.”
The third disc is an audio DVD that contains three different mixes of Wish You Were Here (including the Quad Mix from the ’70s and a 5.1 surround mix from 2009.)
The fourth disc is a DVD with concert films and an animated clip for “Welcome To The Machine” among other things. The fifth disc is a bluray version of the same material.
The Wish You Were Here Immersion Box Set is going to be released on November 8th of 2011.
This double album was released in 1979. This new box set version includes 7 discs.
