Pink Floyd CD Box Set: Oh By The Way

The Pink Floyd CD Box Set “Oh, By the Way” includes all of the studio albums from Pink Floyd’s long career beginning with 1967′s brilliant Syd Barret era Piper at the Gates of Dawn through 1994′s The Division Bell. Basically this a good “one stop” way to buy the entire Pink Floyd discography in a fancy box with some nice CD sleeves (using original LP artwork.)

It’s apparently a “limited edition” box set with only 10,000 copies having been made. As of this writing there are only 5 more copies available on Amazon.com so if you want it, buy it now.

Along with the complete Pink Floyd studio album collection in CD format with the original LP artwork, this “Oh, By the Way” Box Set also includes a Pink Floyd poster and two Pink Floyd coasters which are only available as a part of this box set (not sold separately.)

Albums Included: Piper at the Gates of Dawn, A Saucerful of Secrets, More, Ummagumma, Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall, The Final Cut, A Momentary Lapse of Reason, & The Division Bell.

My Favorite Seven Pink Floyd Albums

1. The Dark Side of the Moon (1973)

A bit of an obvious choice, I know. But I truly believe this album is about as perfect as an album can get. There’s a certain magic to it. Every second, every moment seems perfectly realized.

2. Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967)

Syd Barrett era Floyd was really an entirely different band than the more well known ’70s version. I’m not one of those people who thinks that Syd era Floyd was so much better than later Floyd (or visa versa.) I love both eras, they’re both great in their own ways.

3. Wish You Were Here (1975)

To me the “Shine On…” tracks can kind of drag sometimes. But that said the three middle tracks are all brilliant and when I’m in the mood I love the epic “Shine On…”

4. Meddle (1971)

A lot of people seem to only love this album because of “Echoes” but for me “Echoes” may actually be my least favorite track on the album. Not that it’s not great in its way, I just can’t deal with a 20+ minute track all of the time; I have to be in the mood.

5. Animals (1977)

This album certainly rocks my socks off. I may actually be under ranking it here.

6. The Wall (1979)

The Wall has some brilliant songs on it but overall it doesn’t quite rank up there for me in comparison to the above albums. I think it’s the production or something. It’s a bit over produced and just off the mark in places. But that said; its high points are amazing.

7. Saucerful of Secrets (1968)

Pretty cool Syd to later Floyd transition album. It’s not as good as what came before or what came later; but it’s still pretty nice.
