Post War - M. Ward
By Marvin Marks on Apr 29, 2008 in Song Reviews
“Post War” is the title track from M. Ward’s 2006 album of the same name. I’ve only heard the album a few times so far (I finally got it recently, bit behind on this one) but this song really stands out for me. I can see why he named the album after it. (Or possibly the other way around?)
It’s a quiet song that in the wrong mood would probably sound like rather uninteresting background music but when in the right mood is a real treat for the ears.
It’s mostly wispy vocals and warm keys. The percussion is a highlight of the song as well. But really it’s how all intertwines together that makes it great music.
As with many of M. Ward’s tracks, a large part of the song’s appeal is it’s atmosphere. While listening on headphones it’s a more like swimming in music than just listening to it.

I pulled out this album to give this song a listen. I like it, but yeah… maybe I wasn’t in the right mood because it does sound a little boring to me
