Radiohead – Hail To The Thief Live Performances

Today I’m continuing with my series of live versions of Radiohead albums. I’ve already done OK Computer, Kid A, and Amnesiac.

Unlike those albums I was actually able to find a live performance of every song on this album.

2003′s Hail to the Thief is usually seen as a bit of a dip by most Radiohead fans and while I do think it’s a great album – I do have to agree with that assessment. I don’t think it’s quite as great as the albums that came before it or the one that has come since it (2007′s In Rainbows.)

Part of the problem with the album is that it drags a bit with 14 tracks. The best Radiohead albums tend to have 10 to 12 tracks. I like that cohesiveness factor to albums like Kid A & In Rainbows.

But when talking about the “problem” of the album let me say to me this is sort of like saying that while Rubber Soul isn’t as good as Revolver (which I don’t think it is) – it’s still a great album. That’s how I feel about Hail to the Thief. It’s not as good as Kid A, In Rainbows, or OK Computer — but it’s still a great album. Oh yeah, I’d probably rank it behind Amnesiac & The Bends too although I’m not quite as sure about that. I really think all of their albums, save Pablo Honey, are actually pretty damn great.
