Radiohead’s Most “Shouted” Songs (Last.FM)

As a huge Radiohead fan and big fan of the Last.FM site I came with this idea of ranking Radiohead’s songs by which ones are most “shouted” on the site.

I will also compare the rankings of most “shouted” vs. most played. There would seem to be a direct correlation, but are there some songs that people like so much (or in some cases hate so much) that they go to the trouble of “shouting” on their page more often?

You could argue that doing this is a great way of finding out which songs fans are most passionate about, although it’s far from scientific as there are some people who shout multiple times on the same song.

So really, this is all a bit pointless I guess. But I want to do it anyway.

#01 “Karma Police” – 1788 Shouts – 855K Listeners
#02 “Reckoner” – 1351 Shouts – 573K Listeners
#03 “Creep” – 1301 Shouts – 729K Listeners
#04 “Paranoid Android” – 1208 Shouts – 741K Listeners
#05 “Jigsaw Falling Into Place” – 1157 Shouts – 574K Listeners
#06 “15 Step” – 1133 Shouts – 581K Listeners
#07 “All I Need” – 1119 Shouts – 592K Listeners
#08 “Nude” – 977 Shouts – 572K Listeners
#09 “Idioteque” – 948 Shouts – 491K Listeners
#10 “Videotape” – 895 Shouts – 501K Listeners

6 of the 10 are from their most recent album, In Rainbows, which makes sense as I think a lot of the shouts on songs come when the album is first released, and Last.FM has only existed for the release of In Rainbows.

But, yeah. Overall this was not nearly as illuminating as I was hoping it might be. Dumb idea! But it took some time to research this BS and I’ve already done it so here it is.

  1. Yes Marvin I agree, probally the best album by Radiohead has got to be The Bends, virtually every track is a classic, high and dry, fake plastic trees, just, street spirit to name but a few, this album is timeless.

To see not one track on this list is a tragedy or is it because a lot of the voters are too young to remember it?

  2. I’m not sure what you’re agreeing with me on (that it’s pointless?)

Personally I’d place The Bends as probably my second *least* favorite Radiohead album (ahead of only Pablo Honey – but by a wide margin.)

I love The Bends – but I think they went on to do more interesting stuff with their following albums.

  3. Actually I should say that I sometimes go back and forth over whether I prefer HTTT or The Bends (as my 5th favorite Radiohead album) … at the moment I’m leaning towards HTTT though.
