Sade Tops The Billboard 200
By Marvin Marks on Feb 18, 2010 in Music Trivia
Soldier of Love, Sade’s first album since 2000′s Lover’s Rock, debuted at #1 on this week’s Billboard 200 album charts with more than half a million copies sold.
It’s Sade’s second #1 album in the US, the first being 1985′s Promise which was their second album (their debut album, Diamond Life, was released in 1984 – it’s first track is the famous hit “Smooth Operator.”)
Yes, I said “their.” Many folks seem to be under the impression that Sade is a solo artist, but that’s actually the name of the band. The confusion stems from the fact that the band is named after their lead singer, Sade Adu.
