Shure KSM44 Condenser Microphone

The quality of your recordings depends on the quality of your microphone. You won’t be able to get a good sound on a recording of your voice or your acoustic guitar with a cheap low quality condenser microphone. But you also don’t have to shell out over $3000 for a Neumann U87.
The Shure KSM44 is a top quality condenser mic that will give you great results recording your voice and acoustic instruments. It’s one of the recommended mics in many of the home recording guide books (including Home Recording for Dummies) and I know from personal experience (I own the Shure KSM44) that it is a very high quality microphone.
It’s built like a tank. I’ve dropped mine many times and treated it pretty badly and it still works like new. Oh yeah, and I even bought it used. That’s the thing with a quality mic, they keep on working at a high level for a long time. A good quality mic like this is a real investment.
It retails for over $1500 but you can get it for far less than that online.

yeah, I completely agree..fantastic mic, I get one on ebay for $550. It blow my AKG C214 away.

I recently saw an interview with President Obama (it was video of a radio interview about health care reform) and they used one of these microphones… I figure if it’s good enough for the President, it’s good enough for me.
