The Flaming Lips next album, Embryonic, which is due out on October 13th is up on Amazon.com for pre-order now. There are actually two listings for it, one which is currently $14.49 and another that is $26.49 which I assume is some sort of “special edition” version of the album. They are both listed as [...]

As a long time Flaming Lips fan I was thrilled when I heard that not only will the Lips be releasing an album in 2009 (I didn’t think they’d have a new album out until at least 2010) but that it will be their first ever double album. The album is now available for pre-order [...]

The Flaming Lips performed some new songs at the 2009 Pitchfork Music Festival: “Silver Trembling Hands” “Convinced of the Hex” Both “Silver Trembling Hands” & “Convinced of the Hex” will be on the band’s forthcoming double album Embryonic and they are now available (as of today) for digital download online on Amazon.

The Flaming Lips next album is apparently going to be a double album which will be released sometime this year (I’ve seen dates as early as September and as late as December, but no official release date has been set to my knowledge.) It’s title is going to be Embryonic (although I’m not sure if [...]

Wilco – Wilco on June 30 I’m not that excited about this album as I think Wilco has been getting progressively less interesting since 2001′s brilliant Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (which I still think is among the best albums of the decade.) That being said, I’m sure to give it a chance and I hope it [...]

1999 was ten years ago now. Yes, that means this decade is nearly over. And that also means we have many “best of the decade” lists to look forward to at the end of the year! Anyway, this article on 7 “must hear” albums of 1999 was inspired by a much lengthier list over at [...]

Dark Night Of The Soul is an interesting new album which is a collaboration between Danger Mouse & Sparklehorse (along with lots of other groovy folks*) that apparently won’t be given the usual release, instead the album is just a CD-R. But yes there is real music involved, it’s just that you’re encouraged to download [...]

Today is the last day I can include The Soft Bulletin on my list of the top 10 albums of the past 10 years. I think this is The Flaming Lips best album and among the very best albums of the 1990s. It’s also aging quite nicely, in fact even though it’s a few years [...]

According to this Billboard story. Apparently the album “might” be called Embryonic. I wasn’t really expecting the Flaming Lips to release an album this year, much less a double album. Although I was (and am) somewhat disappointed by At War With The Mystics, I’m still pretty excited to hear what they come up with for [...]

“Do You Realize?” by The Flaming Lips (who formed in Oklahoma City in the early 1980s) is set to become the “official rock song” of Oklahoma despite some opposition from some truly idiotic conservatives (yes, “idiotic conservatives” does seem somewhat redundant at this point.) These fellas are opposed to “Do You Realize?” because of lead [...]
