This post takes a look at the keys of The Beatles original songs to see if there are any patterns worth noting (as to how often certain keys are used and whether certain keys are more likely to be used with certain types of songs.)

I’m going to be using the following books as sources for this research: The Beatles Complete Scores, The Beatles as Musicians: Through Rubber Soul (1965), The Beatles as Musicians: From Revolver (1966), and Revolution in the Head. And of course I’ll be listening to the recordings from The Beatles in Stereo Box Set (and The Beatles in Mono Box Set.)

This is a big project so it’s something I will be updating as I go until it’s finished (at which time I’ll delete this sentence!)
