The Beatles On The UK Album Charts: 11 In The Top 40

The UK album charts for the week were released today and The Beatles have 4 entries in the top ten and 11 entries in the top 40. Not bad for a band that recorded their last album (Abbey Road) 40 years ago.

The Beatles On The UK Album Charts

#05 Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band
#06 Abbey Road
#09 Revolver
#10 Rubber Soul
#21 The Beatles (AKA The White Album)
#24 The Beatles Stereo Box Set
#29 Help!
#31 Past Masters
#33 Magical Mystery Tour
#37 A Hard Day’s Night
#38 Please Please Me

I think the box set coming in at #24 may be the most amazing thing about this. Each box set sale is essentially a sale of all 14 of their albums (counting the Past Masters non-album songs compilation as an album.) And of course if someone buys a box set they won’t be buying the albums individually so it’s definitely hurting the chart rankings of their proper albums.

Those of you in the UK should go to the Amazon.co.uk Beatles Store.

  1. Also they had 16 listings in the top 75 which is apparently a new record (the old record was 14 by Elvis Presley in 1978.) 16 is actually every single new release they had… The 14 remastered stereo albums individually (including Past Masters) and the 2 box sets (stereo & mono) all charted in the top 75. How about that?
