The Beatles Remastered Box Sets On Vinyl
By Marvin Marks on Aug 26, 2009 in Features
The Beatles Mono & Stereo CD Box Sets are being released on 9/9/9 but will they also release these newly remastered Beatles albums as Vinyl Box Sets?
I’ve read some rumors that’s exactly what they are planning, but I’ve seen no official statement to that effect.
It makes sense that they would release new vinyl versions of The Beatles albums because the only new Beatles vinyl records available since their albums were first put on CD (in 1987) were sourced from the same source as those CDs. So if they are upgrading the sound on the CDs, why not also on the vinyl records?
And as Abbey Road’s ranking as the #2 biggest selling vinyl album of 2008 (16,500 copies sold in the US) there’s a pretty decent sized market for Beatles vinyl records so I think we’ll see this happen whether it’s on November 14th (the rumored date) or perhaps at a later time.

As I just posted, both of these box sets are now sold out on Amazon … http://www.musicbyday.com/the-beatles-stereo-box-set-now-sold-out-on-amazon-too/586/ (includes where you can still get ‘em.)

An update: There’s no news of this being a reality as of yet. Perhaps they’re going to wait until 2010?

An update: They are apparently working on this… It’ll happen. Probably spring 2010.

Update:
The plan is for October 2010. I have all the originals from the 60’s. Now I hope to get the new ones and play them and keep the old ones stored away safely. But until then I will play them to my hearts content.
