The Beatles Remastered Box Sets On Vinyl

The Beatles Mono & Stereo CD Box Sets are being released on 9/9/9 but will they also release these newly remastered Beatles albums as Vinyl Box Sets?

I’ve read some rumors that’s exactly what they are planning, but I’ve seen no official statement to that effect.

It makes sense that they would release new vinyl versions of The Beatles albums because the only new Beatles vinyl records available since their albums were first put on CD (in 1987) were sourced from the same source as those CDs. So if they are upgrading the sound on the CDs, why not also on the vinyl records?

And as Abbey Road‘s ranking as the #2 biggest selling vinyl album of 2008 (16,500 copies sold in the US) there’s a pretty decent sized market for Beatles vinyl records so I think we’ll see this happen whether it’s on November 14th (the rumored date) or perhaps at a later time.

  2. An update: There’s no news of this being a reality as of yet. Perhaps they’re going to wait until 2010?

  4. Update:

The plan is for October 2010. I have all the originals from the 60′s. Now I hope to get the new ones and play them and keep the old ones stored away safely. But until then I will play them to my hearts content.

  7. I was reading the July issue of Record Collector magazine and came across this tantalising little snippet on page 13 and I quote:

“The Beatles catalogue is due as LP reissues and a 16-LP box set with a 100-page book on 4 October (2010)”.
I’m hoping that if the 2009 Remasters are issued on LP that it’s with the expanded artwork, even if we get inner sleeves with the pictures & liner notes instead of a booklet. There will be those out there saying “NOOOOOOO, release them as they were originally”. I have at least 2+ copies of all of the studio albums in multiple versions…”With The Beatles” alone comprises 4 Aussie pressings, the 1990′s UK, Japanese & Canadian (the latter’s called “Beatlemania With The Beatles” but its effectively the same LP) not to mention 3 CD’s. For me this set needs to be “different” enough to attract my attention. The thing I love about the vinyl versions of the 1990′s/2000′s Apple LP releases is the LP cover art…YSS, BBC, Anthology 1-3, 1, LIBN & Love all look amazing in LP form..particularly with the inserts of the last 3. LIBN & Love’s booklets look grand in the larger format. The inner sleeves, pictures & poster of “1″ bring back memories of the White album. I had resisted them all initially having been content with the CD’s but after I saw most of them in Bruce Spizer’s “Beatles On Apple” book I was hooked, so I hunted them all down. Now I make a rule of getting vinyl equivalents of new Beatles CD’s. The other question will be if vinyl versions of the 2010 remastered Red & Blue will follow?

    Here’s hoping.
