The Next YouTube Sensation? Greyson97 – “Paparazzi”

I don’t know this kid’s name (***edit: his name is Greyson Michael Chance***) or anything else about him except that he is in the 6th grade and that he goes by the name “Greyson97″ on YouTube. And that he did this killer cover of “Paparazzi” by Lady Gaga at some kind of school function that has gone “viral” (he’s already got an appearance on Ellen booked for this Thursday.) Check it out:
He’s also put up a couple of his original songs on YouTube and I think they are actually pretty impressive. Really impressive if you consider his age.

That was actually pretty cool. But I get the feeling if I saw this same kid on American Idol or something like that, I’d be annoyed by the whole thing. I think what makes this cool is that it’s at some 6th grade school function.

I’ve been trying to find his real name all over the internet but I can’t find it anywhere… does anyone know it? I guess I’ll find out tomorrow when he’s on Ellen DeGeneres but I don’t really want to wait!

This kid is amazing…… there’s no two ways about it. It’s serious talent and he’s only in 6th grade! This guys gonna be makin’ hit music for many years to come. Cool we get to see him in his early days. Oh….. and he’s too good for American Idol, skip that and start makin’ real music now. Some record company is gonna scoop him up…and quick!

Question is what route he goes: writing all his own songs only or getting help from other songwriters. Not sure what the best decision will be for his career, but we’ll see. Maybe it’s just his 15 minutes.
