I came across a very interesting (to me) list of the top 10 selling vinyl albums of 2008 in the US (from soundscan’s data so it should be quite accurate.) Here it is:

02 - The Beatles - Abbey Road - 16,500

03 - Guns N Roses - Chinese Democracy - 13,600

04 - B-52s - Funplex - 12,800

05 - Portishead - Third - 12,300

06 - Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane over the Sea - 10,200

06 - Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon - 10,200

08 - Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes - 9,600

09 - Metallica - Death Magnetic - 9,400

10 - Radiohead - OK Computer - 9,300

It’s interesting to see Neutral Milk Hotel on a soundscan best selling albums list. And the numbers for Abbey Road and Dark Side of the Moon are very impressive considering those albums turned 39 and 35 years old last year.
