Top Three Albums: 2007 (Love Is Simple, Ongiara, In Rainbows)
By TheRoboticMushroom on Jan 4, 2009 in Features
This will be a new running feature which will basically be about my three favorite albums from each year and I’ll start by working my way back from 2007.
Choosing just three albums from any given year is hard enough so I won’t make it harder by making me rank them. Instead I’ll just do it alphabetically by artist/band name.
Akron/Family – Love Is Simple
I don’t love it as much as their debut album (self-titled) which is among my favorite albums of the century thus far but I do think this one worked a lot better than their second album, Meek Warrior. Like all of their stuff, it’s pretty unusual music that I think either you’re going to love or you’re going to find quite irritating. Obviously I think it’s worth giving a try. Although I would actually check out their debut album (from 2005) first if I were you.
Great Lake Swimmers – Ongiara
This album is much more laid back and simple than most of the music I really enjoy but this is really nice stuff. If you are in a laid back mood, put this album on and see how it hits you.
Radiohead – In Rainbows
I know I said I wasn’t going to be ranking the albums, but this is far and away my favorite album of 2007. It’s not even close. Along with the main album, I definitely recommend checking out Disc 2 if you can find it (it came with the deluxe version of the album.) It pretty much picks up where the album leaves off and turns it into a double album. The songs on Disc 2 are nearly as good as the ones on Disc 1.

IN RAINBOWS no doubt. Great choice. I’m not sure there is anyone less interesting in the world to me than a Radiohead hater.
